Tim McCall (Jirah) is known for creating energetic and atmospheric trance music, although the Jirah name has occasionally been associated with a more downtempo style. Coming from a musical family, he learned many instruments, his favorite being guitar. He grew up listening to a mix of rock and early techno music, experimenting with digital processing from the age of 12. His first exposure to goa/psy music came with the release of the "Blue Room / Trip Through Sound" compilation in 1997, which set him on a direct course into producing his own type of sound. It was during this time that Jirah was born, and over the years Tim's music evolved as he continued to refine his skills. His debut album was released in 2003 on USTA Records, receiving strong reviews and acclaim worldwide. Tim went on to release music on many other labels such as Dragonfly, Aleph Zero, Organic, Harmonia and Spliff to name a few. Since his first live show in 2001, he has played throughout the world, from Europe to Asia to the Americas. In 2005, due to a mixed set of circumstances, Tim decided that he needed to take a break from songwriting and performance. His music continued to be released during this time, and after a three year silence, he is back on the scene with new projects on the way. Stay tuned for information on new artistic directions and of course, new music!

To fellow artists and friends...

For artists, the outlets that we choose to express ourselves through are very much a part of who we are. In a very real sense, when we create we are giving birth to something that no one else has experienced. These creations can come from the deepest emotions or sometimes just random thoughts, and through them we are giving something of ourselves away each time. To me, music has always been about the journey that we take as we listen. Regardless of genre or style, the best music is the kind that is sincere and honest, for better or worse; the kind that comes from the soul and is able to be communicated in a way that lets the listener know that this is the true artist, with no fronts or facades.

For friends - friends are a blessing that no one should take for granted. As an artist, I find that the music I make is only as good as the relationships that I have with others. It's all connected! Music can give inspiration, but not before the artist is inspired by something first. Life is inspiration; friends are a part of life. Artists are connected to friends, and the artist provides a connection into the unseen and unexplored. Thus we come back to the journey, and the new discoveries, and follow the path to discoveries that have yet to be revealed.

I offer a sincere thanks to all of you; you contribute in so many ways!

-Tim

Well... i’m back

Greetings to friends new and old, and to the friends that I have yet to meet!

It's been a few years since I have produced, performed, or even spoken to many of you. I want to say first of all that I hope you are all doing well and that life is good. In 2005 or so, I left the music scene very abruptly which i'm sure caused some general confusion and even rumours of the reasons why. It was a mixed set of reasons, and what I will generally say about it was that it was something that needed to be done. I do feel that an apology is owed, especially to all of my friends who I haven't talked to in quite awhile.

Musically, these last couple of years have been a time of reflection, and I nowadays I find myself much more open to all kinds of music. Expect to hear something different!

So to all of you, thank you for your support throughout the years and I look forward to hearing from all of you again.
