The Abominable Twitch [live]
- Psymbolic--sounds
Max Glascott is a designer/animator/electronic producer from Chicago. His material has been the result of a number of different mediums and experiments over the years. He spent his early design career coding and designing websites in the earlier days of HTML. As he began to gain confidence in his animation skills he started to apply his photography and photoshop experiments to motion graphics. He spent 1 year interning for Optimus, learning the post production ropes. He was hired and worked just under 3 years as an assistant editor. This outlet allowed him to explore animation as far as time would allow. He has recently won a silver Telly award for his 30 second piece “Happy Ammunition” which aired as part of a local campaign spearheaded by Optimus. After leaving Optimus, he pursued his love of music and composition, while working as a freelance animator and designer. He currently parades the “underground” as The Abominable Twitch. |

Phaded [dj] - Dubfix / Dubstep.fm
Phaded began his affair with the beat in the late 90's, doing production and later Dj'ing a blend of Underground Hiphop, Downtempo and Dub tracks. Inspired by the musical brilliance of producers and artists spanning a vast number of genres, there was a constant compulsion to present some of the most underground of sounds and rhythms in his sets. Becoming part of the emerging Dubstep scene in the US was only a natural progression for Phaded, as it tapped into the many facets of his musical foundation. Over the last year there has been great success for his weekly broadcast - The Dented Sessions on Dubstep.fm as well as dropping crowd-pleasing performances around the Midwest US. 2008 only looks brighter for this sub junkie, with an eye toward lending more his own productions to the scene in upcoming months. Be ready for some bass weight with Phaded when you enter the building. |
Nameloc [dj] - Dubfix / Prismatiq
Influenced by video games of his childhood, Nameloc started to actively pursue electronic music. Before picking up his own set of turntables, he would make compilation CDs for his friends and family to expose them to underground tunes. Since 2004, Nameloc has been recording mixes, writing tracks, and playing out aggressive drum and bass. He also started exploring the deeper bassier sounds of dubstep in 2007, and has made it his mission to drop the heaviest tunes around. Nameloc has played out to crowds of 2000+ heads at Anime Central's Soap Bubble, as well as online radio listeners from Dubstep.fm, Bassdrive.com, and Depaul University's very own Radio Depaul. With his quick mixing styles, and explosive stage presence, Nameloc will be sure to bring the heat to any occasion. |

After hearing a dubstep mix a that friend sent, he instantly became submerged in the vast intensity of dubstep's massive bass weight. As a resident at Dubfix ( a Chicago dubstep night ), Selecta7 remains committed to mixing the hottest dubstep tunes for the crowd. Sam has also performed guest spots on the highly acclaimed Dented Sessions with Phaded on dubstep.fm. Alexander Bassett [live]
- (special vocal set) - FakeBeat
Catch this special and rare live performance of Alexander's musical creations. A celebration of the work accomplished in this great city before he moves to New York... As a musician and producer Alexander stubbornly insists on keeping things fresh by ignoring genres and cutting to heart of what is new and interesting. He employs this mindset in any artistic medium he is working with be it event production, studio recording, songwriting, video, graphic design, or performing live. In Alexander's eyes all branches of the arts are limbs growing on the same tree. The creative energy used to make a painting is the same as that used to compose a piece of music. Last October, Bassett produced a very well attended underground Halloween celebration, The Deep. The event had a strong multimedia focus featuring original video projections, and a state of the art sound system. He also has provided work for the DJ community by establishing, booking and promoting several successful residencies including Emergency Broadcast @ Betty's Blue Star, Secret Stash @ Uptown Lounge, and Modern Love @ Liars Club. At the start of 2008 Bassett, with the help of Mike Dextro, PROTMAN, and jRick launched Fakebeat.com, a music culture blog focusing on interviews with influential local musicians, and worldwide talent including, Zebo, Alexander Robtnick, Glitch Mob, Ghostland Observatory, Hilary Rawk, Ulysses, Marvel Kind, and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club. Many more projects are underway as Bassett prepares to relocate himself to Brooklyn to further establish himself as a national presence. Be on the lookout for Bassett's solo production debut, "Never Enough" scheduled for late summer release. The challenge is always apparent, and Alexander always welcomes the hard work, because… well… the excitement never stops. |

Searchl1te
- Dubfront Records
Around age six, Searchl1te (aka Kee - BassByThePound Crew) appropriated the family tape recorder. Re-using abandoned cassette tapes, he documented his random glossolalia, the sound of the mic rubbing on various household objects, and interviews with his toddler brother about the state of the known universe. After being gifted a walkman by a neighbor, he began to produce radio shows in his bedroom. Tunes were cued up on the walkman, tape rolled, mic stuck in between the headphones and the latest Grandmaster Flash, Lionel Richie, and ZZ Top jammed, followed by announcements and commercials for fake shit like Mr. T Brand Toilet Paper. The next several years were spent making pause-tapes for makeout parties. Enter the turntables, jungle music, and FM radio. No matter the tools or the medium, Searchl1te lays out fierce, cavernous, densely-layered, hauntingly beautiful, eclectic mixes and tunes. Strictly sarcopha-beats and tech:freek biz. His tunes are loaded with his own field recordings from bum-fuk-everywhere as well as obscure samples from an amazingly nerdy collection of music from around the world. Searchl1te is the founder of Part Time Sucker Radio. He's been doing non-commercial radio for over a decade, most recently with WNUR 89.3 Fm Chicago (www.WNUR.org), Vocalo 89.5 Fm Chicago (www.Vocalo.org), www.Destroyer.net, www.Dnbradio.com, and www.Dubstep.Fm. Part Time Sucker Radio serves as a creative outlet for the crew, as well as for forward-thinking dj's, producers, and musicians in, or as they come through, the Midwestern U.S. As his day gig, Searchl1te teaches reading, writing, and music production to incarcerated kids in Chicago. Visit www.FreeWriteJailArts.org to peep the latest publications of writing and art or to listen to tracks produced and performed by his students. |
Cringer
- Dubfront Records
Raised by jackals in the darkest mountain recesses of Appalachia, Cringer emerged from the back woods armed with two turntables and a fattened sack of dubplates. Traveling to Chicago, he found home with the Part Time Sucker crew bringing his signature brand of bass-ridden drum-driven Jungle and Drum n' Bass. Since then, Cringer has crossed paths with the low level rumblings known as Dubstep and, after dueling with swords on the beaches of Ganryu Island, they joined forces to untwine soundscapes that exist where bass becomes "sub". Currently, Cringer can be found ruthlessly rattling bass bins, scorching dancefloors and tracking the sun in anticipation of 2012. To seek the Cringer, one merely need follow the trail of toppled speaker stacks and demolished sub cabinets. |
Jeekoos
- Dubfront Records Chicago 1998...Jeekoos became actively involved in music by producing hip hop with local artists. With an open mind and heart, he began digging for fresh musical experiences. Shortly before the end of the century, at a party in Rogers Park, he got introduced to jungle and immediately fell in love. In early 2000 he happened upon a jungle and breakbeat-oriented college radio show hosted and mixed by DJ Kee aka Searchl1te. Impressed by his selections of styles and sounds, and glad to have found a consistent source for dnb, Jeekoos became a regular listener. He had been honing his production skills and began sharing some of his original tracks with Searchl1te, who dug them and played them on the show. In late 2001 Jeekoos visited the radio show, which had just taken the name Part Time Sucker Radio. There he met up with the Part Time Suckers, Kee aka Searchl1te, Cringer, and Kat_Zyie. When dubstep caught up with him, with its slower pace but equivalent intensity, gnarly basslines and attention to detail, the incorporation of it into his sets and production style was only natural. As his sound evolves and his skills flourish, Jeekoos stays deeply involved in the Chicago dubstep scene. Respect to tha Wubmaster! |
